Last week we moved the steers to their winter paddock, with access to the wood. It was half dark, so not an ideal time to do it, but they behaved very well and we had help from our friends Paul and Gemma.
We put the first bale of straw out for the steers this weekend – they were excited by the whole operation but not terribly interested in the straw.
There’s still quite a lot of grass in the wood; it’s poor quality but it’ll fill their bellies.
With no bull there, the four steers are much more equal in status. The two young ones don’t get pushed around by Robbie and Fraser – in fact, I think they might push Fraser about a bit.
